This blog is officially dead

Yes it is!

I don't know anyone who checks back here already but I thought I'd just drop a note anyway. Even though it's been a year since I last posted here, I did mention that I don't think I'll ever stop blogging entirely. And I haven't. I've been blogging on a private blog for the past year or so, and I've found it to be a more comfortable option than having a public blog where I have to lock my posts every time I decide to write something too personal. The occasional shame from the childishness in my writing is another reason, of course.

Well, because I've finally gotten around the technical glitches preventing me from migrating the posts from this blog over to the new one, I can declare this blog is officially dead.

On your part, if you're my friend and you blog, keep blogging so I have stuff to read heh.

y'know, just to keep the blog alive

given that my last post was written before the sem started, i think i should have weeded out all the unfaithful readers of my blog by now..heh.

yeah it HAS been a tough sem. i can't even begin to count how many weekends i've burnt staying at home and meeting up for project work on sundays, having to juggle internship interviews, and how stressed and irritable i got sometimes. just over the past 2 weeks i had something like 4 presentations, 4 term papers, 2 quizzes due. for some strange reason or another i've been out of sorts and finding it hard to motivate or concentrate on anything related to school this entire sem. so i've been handing in a lot of slipshod work. and i've been losing various stuff all over school the past few weeks (you won't even believe).

anyway just to update on matters in the 'how's life' department, i'll be interning at ac nielsen next year, doing market research stuff and that office work shit. i'm also kinda chuffed that i was just offered another place at millward brown, which i didn't expect because i wasn't the only who applied and i absolutely screwed up that interview. anyway being the lazy shallow bum i am, i have accepted it because it is 15 minutes away from my home, although i have a feeling the work there is tougher.

ah well i think i'm feeling a little too relaxed for my own good now. had japanese food with jingshi, kailing, yanwen, tinky to celebrate project submissions yesterday and behaved like the exams ended (they start next week by the way). hah time to get my act togetherrr and nothing more about school in my next post, i promise.

i am so not looking forward to school

title says it all. this sem is possibly going to be the toughest one, what with 6 subjects, mostly heavy-duty ones, and a timetable that doesn't allow me time for lunch for 2 days. and to be honest there's no one i'm really close to in my new division - communication research. yeah.. it's major nerd-out time with statistics and spss.

i'm keeping my fingers crossed that i've made the right choice.. heck. i don't even know if i made the right choice being a communications studies student.

anyhow, summer exchange was great. it feels strange though, that i've fitted so well into the contours of everyday life in singapore again that it almost feels like i never left at all. like the whole exchange had been some kind of a dream. i do wish i had more time to blog when i was in france. but oh well, you know how things work around here on this blog - they don't. i hope to do up the posts soon before school starts killing whatever free time i have.

i'm also glad that i've managed to do some catching up with people after returning last wednesday, be it ktv with friends or catching a movie with my brother. also, i swear i haven't laughed so hard as i did on thursday night in a very long while. i was literally gasping for air playing cards at mind cafe with the cs people. lynette's line: "where are my cards?" - absolutely priceless.

and this afternoon, morris, cheewei and i went down for baybeats (my first!) and caught an acoustic set by indie band aloha. it was good, only that there was some bloody emcee who spoilt the whole thing by asking questions in between every single song. it was just a 4-song set in the end. ahhh well. the catching up was good though. morris, you gotta follow through with your new blogging ideas ok.

damn this is one shitty incoherent post which doesn't flow and makes no sense.

ooh la la

it's been a while eh? finally everything appears to be packed and i should be leaving the house in about half an hour or so. although i'm pretty sure i'll hit myself on the head for missing something out when i reach there.

yup for those who haven't heard, i'm heading to paris for summer exchange from 17th june to 25th july. hopefully if everything goes well, i'll be blogging about the land whose people andy describes as "having their noses high up in the air" and edwin describes as "not exactly the friendliest people around in europe". should be fun*.

little miss sunshine rocks

post-exams means time to rent couple of dvds. i finally got a chance to watch little miss sunshine and i felt i really had to post about it. i think it's been a very long time since i watched anything as heartwarming and inspiring. it's a funny family drama about what it means to win and lose and what it means to stick together as a family. there are 4 alternate endings with the dvd but i don't think it could have ended any better than the official version where everyone pushes the minibus together. the whole show is simple but brilliant. absolutely recommended if you haven't caught it yet.

alrights. i'm zipping out to catch the phantom of the opera..will post again later.

nerdy exam humour

it's getting more and more apparent that i'm not going to finish studying for the exams. sigh..next week this time, please come now.

decided to post some nerdy stuff; i'm sure in need of some cheer now. here's some stuff leeched from sandip's blog but the guy sure posts the funniest shit. i actually laughed out loud at some of these.

some of the best nerdy (and x-rated) pick-up lines for the science and math people:

1. you're like an exothermic reaction; you spread your hotness everywhere!

2. i wish i was your derivative so I could lay tangent to your curves.

3. you make me want to calibrate my joystick without the latest drivers (my favourite).

4. baby, i’ll treat you like my homework - i'll slam you on the table and do you all night long.

5. excuse me, ma'am, but can I get your seven significant digits?

6. maybe later we can go over to my place and titrate until you reach your end-point.

7. lets make love like pi; irrational and never ending.

8. chemistry students do it on the table periodically.

9. can I be the phasor to your electron and take you to an excited state?

10. let's convert our potential energy to kinetic energy.

11. hey baby, i'm like a rubric's cube. the more you play with me, the harder i get.

12. i don't know if you're in my range, but i'd sure like to take you home to my domain.

13. instead of being the derivative, id much rather be the secant so i can touch u not only once, but twice.

14. your name is Leslie? look, i can spell your name on my calculator!

15. if my right leg was Christmas and my left was Easter, would you like to spend some time between the holidays?

good luck for the exams everyone. if all else fails you can take a cue from these people.

*now tell me you found this funny too, otherwise i'll only feel even more like a boliao nerd (albeit an unmotivated one). haha.

it's a good good friday

and it's time for a boring post! so it's good friday and it falls on my only free day of the week; so bo hua. but damn, i am glad for the slight breather today. finally, after like 2 hours of sleep the previous night, rushing to do up the final presentation for the semester, i think we did pretty good yesterday. i haven't slept so well in days like last night. now i have just another 2 assignments and one big-ass proposal to finish up.

anyway just a little message to thank everyone who wished me on my birthday last week - thanks as always for helping me remember my own birthday haha. ever since my last birthday, i've begun to feel my birthdays getting more and more insignificant and forgettable. partly because there's no significant number after the magic 21, and mainly because it always falls in the thick of project deadlines.

special thanks: to edwin, thanks for the postcard from prague. and thanks for the nick hornby book, yushan. i'm sure i'll like it. it also makes me feel guilty cuz i'm so bad with dates and i tend to forget others' birthdays. like how i've missed wishing meihui on her birthday :( happy (very) belated birthday, if you're reading this..

anyhow it was great last friday at holland v's spizza talking about the old days with the sixoneders. it's funny how we never tire talking about the same stuff from time to time. sorry i couldn't join you guys again yesterday but yeah, friends truly are the best destresser kit.

now for the last leg till the exams, which are just 11 days away. it's also scaring me that i've not even started studying and my spanish oral exam is next thursday. sure to generate lots of laughter from the examiner. adios and buena suerte (good luck) to me.
