first day, first month and first post of 2005.

new year's eve was spent with the oeti people at a small jazz bar called blue note. the mood everywhere this year was decidedly more sombre in light of the recent tsunami tragedy..not to mention that it has been raining every day for the past few days. after an okay dinner at nooch, we spent the whole time walking around the esplanade and boat quay under the drizzle since most of the places we wanted to go were pretty packed. finally we counted down in blue note over heineken with crackers, confetti and loud cheers...

but ultimately, there's just a part of me that remains unmoved, a spectator looking on at the activity. exactly like how yock puts it - festive atmospheres becoming more diluted as one grows up. and becoming more and more desensitised to it all. having said that, i don't think i would have had my new year's eve any other way though. it was still a happy affair.
