i've changed my blogger template so that it looks as minimalistic as possible. i like simplicity but i think it probably translates to boring at the receiving end. oh whatever. till the next time i get the urge to revamp.

and the usual update..

today was spent relaxing at siloso beach. it's supposed to be a farewell outing for dongli who's gonna be posted to brunei in november. there was poon, jason lee, dongli and jane, peh and brina. we played cards and volleyball twice and 'monkey' in the water. brought tanning lotion but didn't use it. bah hope i don't get sunburnt. anyway it's quite embarassing to keep whacking the ball at girls lying on the beach sunbathing.

and i caught 2046 last night with alvin c and his friend! pity i was so tired i was dozing off during the second half of the show (not that the slow pace helped), so i didn't leave the theatre very enlightened. it's arty as expected but i'd say it isn't a bad show. and anyway we were convinced the millions of dollars pumped into the movie mostly actually went into making zhang ziyi's cheongsams.

arty fart //you might already know this. but i only realised 2047 = 1997+50 after the show. it's dear wong kar wai's fascination with china's promise of "no change to hongkong for 50 years under the 1 country, 2 systems rule". 1997 was the year of handover of hongkong to china and 2046 will be the last year of "no change". so you hear in the movie - nothing ever changes in 2046. so if you haven't watched and plan to watch it, it might help to keep in mind the perspective of 2046 from room 2047. //

and on thursday, me, alvin c, his friend and tam were down at thumper, goodwood park hotel. alvin got tix to the polo ralph lauren autumn/winter 04 fashion showcase. my first time at an actual fashion show and it's quite an eye-opener. for one, professional models really do look flawless on the catwalk till the point they look plastic. we were ecstatic with the door gift - a 50 dollar cash voucher.

that was until we found out the terms and conditions said valid for purchases $250 and above.
